와인 2015(new)

choioneq 2024. 12. 3. 16:25

Pieropan La Rocca  2006

47$ RP92 - old

The 2006 Soave Classico La Rocca is 100% Garganega picked late and aged in French oak. This richly-textured, utterly engaging Soave flows from the glass in grand style as ripe, succulent peaches,

mint, minerals and sweet toasted oak come together in a wine of unusual elegance and sheer pedigree. The wine shows superb depth on the palate, with lingering notes of sweetness on the finish.

This classy Soave will benefit from another year or so in bottle, and although this bottling has proven to age, I would nevertheless prefer to enjoy it relatively young. This is a gem from Pieropan.

Anticipated maturity: 2009-2012.

Italy > Veneto > Verona > Soave

Grape Varietal: Garganega

The La Rocca is undoubtedly one of the greatest expression of Soave. Named after the eponymous vineyard that sits above the castello on a limestone outcrop unique in Soave, La Rocca is made solely from Garganega and is rich, spicy, long and complex.

Fermentation takes place in used 500 litre oak casks ("Garganega is too delicate to be fermented in barrique," says Pieropan), before being transferred to large casks.

The oak enhances the natural richness of the old Garganega vines to produce one of Italy's great white wines.

Castello di Volpaia Balifico Toscana IGT 2003

RP 90 -late

나나묵자 ++

The 2003 Balifico (Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon) opens with a sweet, open nose followed by cinnamon, spice cake and ripe black cherries, showing outstanding length on the palate.

It is richer, riper and more full-bodied than the 2004, but its rougher tannins (typical of 2003) convey an impression of less elegance. Still, it is a very pretty wine.

Anticipated maturity: 2007-2018.

The grapes are all coming from the vineyard "Balifico", harvested by hand and collected in small boxes holding 33 lb.

Under constantly controlled temperatures the grapes macerated in ideal conditions.

The grapes first fermented in their own yeast at temperatures between 80 and 86°F.

During these fourteen days, they were automatically punched down twice a day to draw out their finest qualities.

After macerating on their skins for a further 8 days, the malolactic fermentation started.

Gaja Ca`Marcanda Promis  2011

WA93, SP92

RP93 50$

The 2011 Promis (55% Merlot, 35% Syrah and 10% Sangiovese) is darkly concentrated with thick tones of black tar, espresso, candied cherry, clove, rum cake and bitter chocolate. Although it feels broad and large in the mouth, the wine also shows enormous elegance and focus. That inner opulence is channeled into tight, sharp pulses that impact the palate with grace and poise. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2024.

Angelo Gaja oozes enthusiasm for all his wine endeavors. But he shows a special degree of love and passion when it comes to his estate in Bolgheri, Ca’ Marcanda. As I write this introduction, I am sifting through my email inbox where Angelo has deposited a slew of areal photographs of his beloved estate, each one adding to a progressive timeline of the construction and olive tree landscaping completed over the past decade. Inaugurated in 2000, the winery sits on flatland but is almost completely hidden under a layer of earth. Unlike his historic cellars in Barbaresco that represents a confluence of ideals spanning many generations, Ca’ Marcanda is a utopian vision of winemaking contemplated and realized solely by Angelo.

winemaker's notes: Light garnet. Bright and fruity with a jammy nose.

A delightful wine that combines the elegance and suppleness of Merlot and Syrah with the austerity of Sangiovese.

Balanced, almost musical, its a pleasure to drink from an early age and also has an aging potential of 5-8 years.

Promis, from the Latin abbreviation, promissio, meaning promise truly lives up to its name. The grapes are grown in the terre brune (rich, dark soils) of the Ca'Marcanda vineyard. The soil consists primarily of loam and clay. The climate--hot summer days, freshened by brisk sea air and cool nights--is ideal for the grapes grown here.

Wine Spectator 92 points (Apr 9 2014)

Bright, evoking ripe cherry, blackberry, black currant and spice flavors, this red is supported by acidity and firm tannins. Comes together on the finish, leaving a chalky, minerally aftertaste. Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese. Best from 2016 through 2024.—B.S.

Gaja Dagromis Barolo 2008

The wine is named for the Gromis family, which owned the prized vineyard in the commune of La Morra throughout the 19th century.

The Gaja family now owns this vineyard and, together with an outstanding Gaja-owned vineyard in Serralunga, it provides the grapes for this wine.

The soil of both vineyards is primarily calcareous clay and marl; altitudes range from 985 to 1475 feet above sea level; exposures are south-east and south-west.

Tommasi Il Sesante Vigneto Monte Masua, Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG 2007

IL SESTANTE” estate today includes the historical 8 hectares on Monte Masua hill, in the Valpolicella Classica area, and the 7 hectares of the “San Martino”vineyard, on lake Garda. Out of these property only three wines are produced and one of them is the Il Sestante Amarone. This is classic Amarone, full bodied and concentrated with immense richness and power. Amarone is one of the most traditionally made wines in the world by drying grapes on black slates to obtain higher sugar, a process that has been unique to Amarone for centuries. These wines can age forever, never the less ideally drunk 5-6 years after vintage.
