오늘은 미쿡의 rare item이다.

 요즘들어 와인의 세부적인 향을 구분하기가 힘들어 졌다.

일단 처음향을 맡고  피는시기까지 기다렸다가 산도, 탄닌, 알콜돗수가 얼마나 잘 조화되나와 부케가 있나없나 그리고 좋다 나쁘다만으로 기준을 삼게된다. 쩝....

깔끔한 산미가 상쾌한느낌. 살짝 바닐라 향이 난다. 오크통에 안넣었으면 더 좋았을거란 생각이든다. 뒷맛의 쓴맛이 좀 아쉽다.

사람들이 실버오크 실버오크 하도 하길래 진짜 궁금했던 와인이다.

오픈하자마자 무슨 밀크초콜렛 먹는 느낌이 난다. 오크가 아주아주 부드럽다. 한모금뒤에 남는 긴 피니쉬도 기분좋게 한다.

피어난 후는 전혀 다른느낌. 쎄다! 강하다. 의외로 탄닌도 강하네....

아쉬운 점은 3시간은 두고 천천히 마셨는데 너무 빨리 꺽인네...쩝

MERITAGE 와인이란 프랑스 보르도 스타일로 블랜딩한 와인이란 뜻으로 미국에서 사용하는 용어이다.

1시간 정도 나뒀는데 이놈도 물건이다. 초코렛바를 오크통 표면에 발라 상큼한 포도즙을 숙성시킨 느낌... 어쩜 오크향과 산미가 이리도 잘 조화될까

좋은 와인이다.

참으로 독특한 놈이다. 오크향뒤에 기분나쁘지 않는 석유향이 난다. 이렇게 표현하는것이 어색할 정도로 독특한 향이다. 아마 이 지역이 유전지대일지고 모른다는 생각이 퍼뜩 떠오른다. 온도도 맞춰서 서빙했는데 높은 온도에서 발효한 느낌이 든다.

Game and spice punctuate every aspect of this highly ripened, chocolate-laced offering, and, while the wine verges on being too much of a good thing, it stays squarely on course by virtue of its tenacious blackberry fruit. WINEMAKER NOTES

 

This is the first year that we have made a wine from the Fairview Ranch Vineyard. We are excited to be working with this vineyard located between the famed Rosella's Vineyard and Garys' Vineyard. The Santa Lucia Highlands are known for producing wines with supple, velvety tannins and cool climate spice. We harvested at the peak of ripeness without losing the balance that the foggy mornings and windy afternoons make possible. More fruit forward than our other Syrahs, with notes of wild blackberry, blueberry, sage and cedar on the nose. This full bodied wine coats the palate with velvety tannins, wild raspberry, plums, spice box and white pepper; nice balance and a beam of wild berries rounds out the finish.

 

About the Artist: I wanted a colorful painting of grapes to use on the label that would evoke the richness and wonderful supple fruit that I found with this wine, so I contacted friend and Santa Cruz artist Matt Jones. His first effort ended up being the perfect colors for the Rattlesnake Rock label, so I had him paint a second piece. This time I brought him a sample of the wine to inspire him while painting and I think the result is almost better than a tasting note. – Bradley Brown, Winemaker

난 대충 마셨는데 미쿡에서는 이 와인에 대해 뭐라 블라블라 하는 소리가 많네... 한마디로 독한놈이다.

첨에는 쉬라라는 것을 숨긴다. 첫맛의 여운이 살짝 단맛이 도는데서 혹시 쉬라? 라는 생각이 0.5초 들뿐이다. 만다라 보다 좋다. 신선한 깻잎의 느낌이 난다. 이런소리 하면 와인 고수가 나보고 "야~ 너 뭐야?" 하겠지만 내 입맛에선 비오고 난 뒷날 깻잎밭에서 깻잎느낌이 난다는데 깻잎느낌이 왜나냐고 물으시면 깻잎느낌이 나서 깻잎느낌이 날 뿐이라고 말할 수 밖에 없었다고....헥헥

L'Ecole No 41 Syrah 05

증아언니께서 싸~~~~비스로 가져오신 쉬라즈. 전작의 와인들이 모두 미쿡에서 공수된 것들인데 이넘은 국내에서 세일기간에 사오신 와인. 약간 끊었는데 오히여 푹익었다.

한마디로 묵~~~~~직한 진한 과일의 향과 맛. 어렵지 않아서 솔직히 이게 더 낫다. 쩝

이날의 상태로는 이게뭐니이게지만....한병더있다. 다시 맨입에 시음해봐야지...
