[스크랩] 콜로라도 맥주맛보기 ^^

제가 미국 콜로라도주 Ft. Collins 출장중 경험했던 맥주에 관해 몇자 적어봅니다. 제 경우는 어디를 가든 그 지역의 음식과 술을 맛보는데 가장 좋은 방법은 음식점에서 알바하는 대학생들에게 물어보는 것이 가장 정확하더군요.   제가 간곳은 콜로라도 덴버근처 Ft. Collins 지역으로 평지가 해발 1마일입니다. 상당히 고지대죠 그리고 근처에 쿠어스공장과 버드와이저 공장이 있어 언제나 신선한 생맥주를 마실 수 있습니다. 저에게는 천국과 같은 곳이죠 ^^  타지역에 비해 맥주값도 상당히 저렴합니다. 메리어트 호텔의 bar에서 local beer(Fat Tire등) 500ml  정도에 4000원 받으니 정말 싸죠.     먼저 local beer인데요 우리나라처럼 카스, 오비라거등 이런 전국구 맥주 말고 그 지역에서 파는 맥주가 있습니다. 직장 동료들이 이 맥주를 draft beer라는 말대신 micro brewing beer라고 해서 '전 아닐텐데....' 했지만 마셔보니 그 맛이 우리나라 microbrewery house에서 마시는 맥주맛과 같더군요.   아래와 같이 2가지 local 맥주회사가 있는데 여기있는것 대부분 마셨지만 그중에 군계일학은 "Fat Tire"와 "90 Shilling" 입니다. 저는 개인적으로 밀맥주를 좋아하고 즐겨마십니다. 하지만 이곳에서 에일맥주의 진정한 맛을 느꼈습니다. 그 맛을 아직도 잊지 못합니다.     http://www.newbelgium.com/     Fat Tire Sunshine wheat Blue Paddle 1554 Abbey Trippel     http://www.odellbrewing.com/brew_90.htm   90 Shilling  - 유래가 일반 light ale의 세금이 60 Shillings이고 이 맥주는 gravity땜에 90 Shillings을                        세금으로 내 이름이 이걸로 되었다네요. Easy Street Wheat Cutthroat Porter Cutthroat Pale Ale Levity Golden Amber Ale  Isolation Ale bobby     이 맥주를 마시고 근처에 유명한 Microbrew house가 있다고 들어 물어물어 찾아갔습니다. 와~  보시다 시피 직접 만들어 파는 맥주종류가 10가지가 넘더군요. 이곳은 콜로라도 주립대학 바로앞에 위치하고 있어 늘 대학생들로 넘치는 아주 생기넘치는 곳이었습니다. 여기서도 제일 인기있고 제 입맛에도 젤 잘맞는 맥주는 바로 'Punjabi Pale Ale' 입니다. 도수가 7.2%나 되는데 아주 부드럽고 찌~인한 casade향기 너무나도 좋았습니다. 그래서 2번이나 찾아가 brewer를 만날려고 했지만 못만나고 한국에 와서 mail을 보냈죠. 어떻게 만드냐고.....  답변이 왔습니다.     Hello Won Kyu,   Thank you for the kind words about the beer.   I can't give you the recipe for Punjabi but I can give you some basics.   malt: Pale 93% Crystal 75 lov. 3% Dexitrine 4%  O.G. 16.8  F.G. 2.2 hops: bittering- Cluster  Finish- Mt. A "session" beer with a tawny amber color, light body, and a wonderful hop flavor and aroma. 4.8% ABV Cask Conditioned Punjabi Pale Ale This is Punjabi Pale Ale that is fermented, aged and served from the same cask. The yeast remains in the cask and additional aroma hops are added. It is served off a beer engine with natural carbonation. By using this traditional method, the maximum amount of flavor is preserved in the beer. 7.5% ABV Columbine Kolsch Our rendition of a classic ale style from Cologne, Germany. Its clean and light flavor make it an easy-drinking brew. 5.5% ABV Hanjabi (In-house only) Hanjabi is our Punjabi Pale Ale naturally carbonated and hand drawn. 7.2% ABV Horsetooth Stout Our stout is full-bodied and dark. We use a generous amount of roasted malts to give this a hearty flavor. The use of oats in the mash gives our stout a creamy-mouth feel which is enhanced by a fine head from nitrogenation instead of carbonation. This beer is an acquired taste for the traditional American beer drinker but soon becomes a favorite for the adventuresome. 6.4% ABV Mountain Avenue Wheat This is our traditional summer German wheat beer. It has 50% wheat malt in addition to Pale malt, but its real flavor and consistency comes from the yeast. This beer is cloudy and yeasty which is a perfect thing on a hot day on one of our patios. We make this beer from spring to fall. 5.8% ABV Not Brown Ale Brown ales celebrate malt flavors. We lightly hop this one to let the caramel and coffee flavors of the roasted malts come through. While it is most definitely brown, it has a lighter body than you would think and is mildly sweet. An all-around favorite. It gets its name from the fact that the first batch was not particularly brown. 5.0% ABV. Poudre Pale Ale Our lightest pale ale with a touch of Amber malt give this beer a slight carmel flavor. This sweetness is balanced by a healthy amount of Mt. Hood Hops in the finish. This is our most popular beer with the widest appeal from beginners to grizzled vets. The color resembles a fall day in the Poudre canyon. 5.3% ABV. Punjabi Pale Ale This India Pale Ale has a very big body and a huge Cascade hop character. Brewing it with a special ale yeast helps give it a unique flavor. 7.2% ABV. Sigda's Green Chili We use Anaheim and Serrano chilis to add some heat to this crisp golden ale. It's not too hot and has a good chili flavor. 5.4 % ABV. 하늘에서 바라본 록키산맥입니다. 이곳의 공원이 거의 국립공원 수준입니다. 쿠퍼스스미스 앞에있는 몰트저장고(?) 같은데 이거보고 엄청놀랐습니다.   Mountain Avenue Wheat와 소스 , 소스도 맥주로 만들더군요 이것이 이곳에서 젤 유명한 Punjabi Pale Ale 입니다. 얼마 않되는 분량인데도 올릴려니 손이 많이 가네요.  2편은 일본 맥주박물관 견학기 입니다. 이곳에서는 사진이 많으니 조만간 올리겠습니다. 즐맥 ^^
